SA no longer accepts Covid-19 vaccination certificate without QR code

[ad_1]

Many Namibians found themselves stuck at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport on 26 May after new regulations were implemented, stating that the CDC Covid 19 vaccination ‘white card’ is no longer accepted as proof of vaccination.

According to the Department of Health, South Africa no longer accepts the ‘white card’ received after getting vaccinated for airline travel. Instead, the South African government has informed airlines that a scannable QR code must be presented in order to board a flight.

South Africans who do not yet have their digital vaccine certificate, can retrieve their’s through the Department of Health’s website here.

In response to this, the Nambian government introduced online travel and vaccine platforms through a partnership with the African Union, active from 26 April. Through this platform, a digital vaccine certificate with a QR code is issued.
